The TAP Training Pathway

At Theatrical Artist’s Prep, we believe in progress, not perfection.

Our programs are thoughtfully designed to meet students where they are—while offering clear pathways for growth in both training and performance.

Families may choose the level of involvement that best fits their goals, schedule, and experience.

Discovery (Ages 4–6)

Our Mini Musical Experience introduces young performers to storytelling, creativity, and ensemble collaboration in a playful and supportive environment.

Foundations (Ages 7–9)

Students begin developing acting, singing, and movement skills through structured musical theatre and straight acting training. Performers are introduced to basic performance opportunities that build confidence and stage awareness.

Skill Development (Ages 10–12)

Students further develop their craft through scene work, character development, and expanded performance opportunities that encourage stronger storytelling and ensemble work.

Artistic Growth (Ages 12–17)

Advanced students refine their technique, explore more complex storytelling, and begin taking on leadership roles within productions and the TAP community.

Our school year is divided into three semesters:

Fall Semester (10 Weeks | September - November)
Winter Semester (8 Weeks | January - February)
Spring Semester (10 Weeks | March - May)

Performance Company (By Invitation/Audition Only | Full-Year Commitment / Elite Training Ensemble)

1 weekly MT class + performance opportunities
An advanced training ensemble for dedicated students ready for a more focused, fast-paced environment. Includes additional rehearsals and invitations to perform at select community events.

Designed for students who prioritize their arts education and are ready for a higher level of commitment

Optional Add-On: 1 weekly Acting class

Mini Musical Experience (Ages 4–6) (Semester-Based)

8 week sessions introducing young performers to storytelling, music, and movement in a fun, supportive environment

Workshops & Intensives (Short-Term Enrollment)

Focused training in specific skills such as audition technique, on-camera acting, voice, and more

Seasonal Productions (Optional Add-On)

Fully staged musical productions offered throughout the year

Students have the opportunity to apply their training in a complete rehearsal and performance process. Productions are standalone enrollments to ensure the highest quality experience and production value.

Open to all eligible students. Participation is optional and not included in training programs.

Class Descriptions & Benefits

  • Acting & Improv I

    Ages 7-9

    Foundations Level — Building Confidence, Creativity & Ensemble Skills

    Acting & Improv I introduces young performers to the fundamentals of acting through imaginative play, improvisation games, and beginner scene work. In a supportive and high-energy environment, students learn to express themselves, take creative risks, and build confidence on stage.

    Through guided activities and short scenes, performers begin developing essential skills such as listening, focus, clear speech, and collaboration—while exploring characters, emotions, and storytelling.

    At TAP, we emphasize progress, not perfection, helping each student feel comfortable, capable, and excited to participate.

    Focus Areas:
    • Imagination, creative play & storytelling
    • Intro to improv & ensemble games
    • Basic scene work & character exploration
    • Clear speech, projection & stage confidence

    This class is part of TAP’s Training Pathway. Students seeking a more accelerated experience are encouraged to enroll in both Acting and Musical Theater classes. Students interested in applying their training on stage may also consider enrolling in one of TAP’s seasonal production programs.

  • Acting & Improv II

    Ages 10-12

    Skill Development Level — Strengthening Technique & Performance Skills

    Acting & Improv II builds on foundational skills while guiding students toward more intentional and focused performance work. Through improvisation, scene study, and theater exercises, students develop stronger character choices, emotional connection, and storytelling ability.

    Performers learn to think quickly, respond authentically in the moment, and collaborate effectively with scene partners. Greater emphasis is placed on listening, commitment, and the development of clear, confident communication on stage.

    At TAP, we continue to emphasize progress, not perfection, encouraging students to take creative risks while building the habits of strong young performers.

    Focus Areas:
    • Improv with structure, listening & quick thinking

  • Acting & Improv III

    Ages 13-17

    Artistic Growth Level — Advanced Technique, Expression & Performance

    Acting & Improv III is designed for dedicated performers ready to deepen their craft and refine their artistic voice. Through advanced scene study, improvisation, and character work, students explore more complex storytelling while developing confidence, authenticity, and control in performance.

    With a focus on text analysis, emotional truth, and strong character development, performers are challenged to make bold, specific choices and take ownership of their work. Elements of audition technique and professional expectations are introduced to help prepare students for performances and future opportunities.

    At TAP, we continue to lead with progress, not perfection, fostering a supportive environment where students are encouraged to take risks, grow as artists, and contribute as leaders within the ensemble.

    Focus Areas:
    • Advanced improv, spontaneity & adaptability
    • Scene study, text analysis & subtext

  • Musical Theater I

    Ages 7-9

    Foundations Level — Building Skills Through Storytelling & Play

    Musical Theater I introduces young performers to the essential building blocks of performance in a supportive and engaging environment. Through upbeat warm-ups, beginner-friendly choreography, age-appropriate songs, and ensemble-based acting work, students begin developing core skills in acting, singing, and movement.

    Performers will explore character creation, stage presence, vocal projection, and basic scene work—while learning how musicals tell stories and how to collaborate as part of an ensemble.

    At TAP, we emphasize progress, not perfection, helping each student build confidence, creativity, and a strong foundation for continued growth.

    Focus Areas:
    • Introduction to choreography & stage directions
    • Ensemble singing & rhythm development
    • Character-building & storytelling

  • Musical Theater II

    Ages 10-12

    Skill Development Level — Strengthening Technique & Performance Skills

    Musical Theater II builds on foundational skills while guiding students toward more intentional and disciplined performance work. Through structured training in acting, singing, and movement, students deepen their understanding of how voice, body, and emotion work together to tell a compelling story.

    Performers strengthen their skills in acting through song, scene work, choreography retention, and introductory harmonizing, while developing increased focus, ensemble awareness, and confidence in performance settings.

    At TAP, we continue to emphasize progress, not perfection, encouraging students to take creative risks while building the habits of strong young performers.

    Focus Areas:
    • Acting: objectives, emotional connection, and character choices
    • Dance: foundational musical theater jazz & movement quality
    • Singing: harmony basics and healthy vocal technique
    • Scene work, ensemble awareness & performance development

    This class is part of TAP’s Training Pathway. Students seeking a more accelerated experience are encouraged to enroll in both Musical Theater and Acting classes. Students interested in applying their training on stage may also consider enrolling in one of TAP’s seasonal production programs.

  • Musical Theater II

    Ages 13-17

    Artistic Growth Level — Refinement, Expression & Advanced Training

    Musical Theater III is designed for dedicated performers ready to refine their technique and deepen their artistic voice. Through advanced training in acting, singing, and movement, students explore more complex storytelling while developing the confidence and discipline of thoughtful, committed performers.

    With a focus on text analysis, emotional connection, and performance authenticity, students are challenged to make clear, grounded choices and take ownership of their work. Elements of audition technique and professional expectations are introduced to help prepare students for performances and future opportunities.

    At TAP, we continue to lead with progress, not perfection, fostering a supportive environment where students are encouraged to take risks, grow as artists, and step into leadership within the ensemble.

    Focus Areas:
    • Advanced scene study, text analysis & subtext
    • Emotional storytelling through song & vocal expression
    • Multi-style choreography & retention
    • Harmony work, blending & musical phrasing

  • Performance Company I

    Ages 9-12)

    Premier Training & Performance Ensemble — By Invitation or Audition Only

    TAP Performance Company I is designed for dedicated young performers ready to take their training beyond the classroom and into real-world performance experiences. This premier ensemble combines advanced instruction with rehearsal, preparing students to apply their skills in a variety of community and performance settings.

    Students continue developing technique in acting, singing, and movement while strengthening their ability to work as a focused, committed ensemble. Emphasis is placed on consistency, accountability, and the ability to retain and refine material over time.

    This class includes both instructional training and rehearsal, with scheduled performance opportunities throughout the year. Most community performances take place on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Additional rehearsals, including select Saturdays, may be required based on performance needs.

    A strong commitment is expected. Consistent attendance, preparedness, and a positive, collaborative attitude are essential to maintaining a place in the company.

    • Ensemble performance & storytelling
    • Acting through song & scene work
    • Choreography retention & performance quality
    • Vocal technique, blending & musicality
    • Rehearsal discipline, focus & accountability

    Placement is by invitation or audition. This program includes scheduled performance opportunities and may require participation in local events.

  • Performance Company II

    Ages 13-17

    Advanced Performance Ensemble — By Invitation or Audition Only

    TAP Performance Company II is our highest level training and performance ensemble, designed for experienced and highly committed performers. This advanced group operates with elevated expectations, mirroring aspects of pre-professional rehearsal and performance environments.

    Students refine their technique while taking greater ownership of their work, developing artistry, leadership, and professionalism within the ensemble. Training is integrated directly into the rehearsal process, with a strong emphasis on performance readiness, adaptability, and storytelling at a high level.

    This class includes both advanced instruction and rehearsal, with multiple performance opportunities throughout the year. Most community performances take place on weekends (Saturdays and Sundays). Additional rehearsals, including select Saturdays, may be required depending on scheduling and performance commitments.

    Company II performers are expected to demonstrate strong work ethic, reliability, and maturity. Consistent attendance and full participation are required.

    • Acting through song with depth & specificity
    • Complex choreography & performance execution
    • Vocal performance, harmony & musical interpretation
    • Leadership, professionalism & rehearsal etiquette

    Placement is by invitation or audition. This program includes scheduled performance opportunities and requires participation in community-based events and performances.

  • Production Programs ( Youth & Teen)

    Youth: Ages 8-12

    Teen: Ages 13-17

    Our full-scale musical productions offer students the opportunity to apply their training in a dynamic, collaborative performance environment—from auditions through rehearsals to the final curtain.

    At TAP, productions are designed to be both educational and inspiring. Students work alongside their peers and creative team to bring a story to life, developing performance skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the rehearsal process and what it means to be part of an ensemble.

    Youth and Teen casts rehearse separately to ensure age-appropriate pacing, expectations, and artistic challenge at every level.

    A Meaningful Next Step

    Participation in a production is a powerful way for students to grow—both on and off the stage. While not required, many students choose to pair their training classes with a production experience for a more well-rounded and immersive journey at TAP.

    Short-format masterclasses designed to broaden students’ artistic perspectives. Offerings may include audition labs, vocal masterclasses, Broadway guest artists, and more.

  • Acting For TV & Film

    Train for the unique demands of on-camera performance, with a focus on subtlety, technical awareness, and authenticity.

  • Choreography & Dance Workshops

  • Group Vocal Labs

    Explore a variety of vocal styles and strengthen performance technique in a collaborative, ensemble-based setting. These workshops focus on helping singers develop versatility, confidence, and storytelling through song while working within different genres of musical theater and contemporary music.

    Students will refine vocal technique, experiment with stylistic choices, and learn how to communicate emotion and intention through their voice—all while building strong ensemble awareness.
