Welcome to the T.A.P. Family!
Our 2022 Fall semester begins on Monday, September 12! We look forward to working with your children this semester and can’t wait to see the progress they make as young performers. Please take the time to read the information below listing important dates, how to prepare for class, and To Do tasks. Please don't hesitate to email or call with any questions you may have. Emails and calls are usually answered within 2 business days. Here's to a fun and educational season! We can't wait to work with your kids!
*Please take note of the studio closings listed here as we do not always send out email reminders.
Discipline/Behavior Policy:
There is a strict no bullying policy at T.A.P. If your child continuously shows up unprepared, is disruptive to the class, and/or is disrespectful to other students and/or instructors then a parent/teacher meeting will be scheduled. This may result in your child losing their assigned part or being asked to leave the class permanently (no refunds will be issued). If your child has an IEP or 504 plan we strongly encourage you to share that information with us prior to class beginning so that we can use the same or similar teaching strategies in our classroom.
COVID Policies and Procedures (T.A.P. follows the New Jersey Department of Health Guidelines as well as considers the policies of the Scotch Plains-Fanwood BOE):
*MASKS ARE OPTIONAL at this time (9/7/22). T.A.P. reserves the right to change the on site mask requirement at any time. ALL registered students MUST follow T.A.P. guidelines in order to continue their class involvement. Should a student not follow studio guidelines they will be asked to leave class and will not be issued a refund.
*Temperatures will be taken and logged upon arrival. Students with a temperature of 100.4 or higher will be asked to leave property.
*T.A.P. will be providing cleaning supplies, sanitizer etc. to clean regularly in between classes.
*Parents are not allowed on property. Please DROP OFF/ PICK UP your child at the back door.
*Parents MUST report to us when their child is COVID-19 positive.
*T.A.P. will continue to inform parents when a positive COVID-19 case within their child's class is reported.
*A ZOOM link will be provided ONLY if the class as a whole needs to isolate.
Persons who test positive for COVID-19 and are symptomatic or persons with COVID-19 symptoms who weren't tested or who are waiting for test results:
Stay home and isolate from other people for at least 5 full days (day 0 is the first day of symptoms).
If symptoms resolve (fever-free for 24 hours and other symptoms improve), isolation can end after 5 full days (i.e., on day 6).
If symptoms persist (fever or if other symptoms have not improved), continue to isolate until fever-free for 24 hours and other symptoms have improved.
Students must wear a well-fitted mask when they return on day 6 through day 10.
Persons who test positive for COVID-19 but have no symptoms:
Stay home and isolate from other people for at least 5 full days (day 0 is the day of the positive viral test).
If no symptoms develop, isolation can end after 5 full days (i.e., on day 6).
If symptoms develop within one week of the positive test, the 5-day isolation period starts over with day 0 being the first day of symptoms. Follow recommendations for ending isolation for persons who have COVID-19 symptoms.
Students must wear a well-fitted mask when they return on day 6 through day 10.
COVID-19 Exposure:
Who does not need to quarantine?
Persons who are up to date with vaccinations
Persons who had confirmed COVID-19 within the last 90 days (positive viral test)
Individuals who are exposed should wear a well-fitted mask around others for 10 days and get tested at least 5 days after the last close contact. If the test is positive or if COVID-19 symptoms develop, follow isolation recommendations.
Who should quarantine?
Persons who are NOT up to date with vaccinations.
During quarantine
Stay home and away from other people for at least 5 days (day 0-15) after the last close contact with a person who has COVID-19. The date of the exposure is considered day 0.
If COVID-19 symptoms develop, get tested and follow isolation recommendations.
If asymptomatic, get tested at least 5 days after the last close contact.
If the test is positive, follow isolation recommendations.
If the test is negative, you can end quarantine after day 5.
Auditions & Features: We believe that strong work ethic and “doing your homework” is the only way to grow and improve as an individual and young performer. In an effort to best assess your child’s level of preparation and assign your child’s feature/role for the show, we will be holding in class auditions. ALL students will audition in a friendly and encouraging atmosphere in front of their peers and T.A.P. Faculty. Please note, Features are not solely based on skill/talent level, but are strongly based on work ethic, preparation and class commitment/involvement.
Required Class Materials:
Appropriate Comfortable Attire (Easy to dance in)
Jazz Shoes or Sneakers (No Backless or Open Toe Shoes)
Script (provided by T.A.P.)
Pencil (we do not write in our scripts using pen. Pencil only!)
WATER
** We will be conducting auditions on the first day of camp. Short scenes, music cuts, and a dance combo will be taught prior. Audition material can be found in the Google Classroom for anyone who would like to familiarize themselves ahead of time.
Required Show Materials:
Students will be asked to provide their own shoes (black or tan jazz shoes, ballet shoes, dress shoes), undergarments (ex: dance tights, stockings, socks, etc.), and "base" costume pieces (ex: leggings, tanks, long sleeve shirts etc.). Stay tuned as we'll be sending more info soon so that you can best prepare.
Google Classroom:
Below are instructions to access your child’s Google Classroom. You AND your child are to join the classroom. This is the ONLY way we communicate with our students/parents once camp is in session as we are trying to eliminate the amount of emails back and forth. Please note, public school email addresses are restricted and do not work. In the Google Classroom you will find the following (We are still loading materials so please be patient if you do not see certain materials right away):
Rehearsal Choreography videos
Guided Vocal Tracks
Practice instrumental music tracks
Class Assignments / To Dos
Digital Script
Audition Materials
Instructors will be updating the drive as often as possible. This will hopefully make PRACTICING at HOME super easy! Your child is responsible for practicing and coming to class prepared.
All requested forms/video assignments can be submitted electronically through the drive. You or your child can also post questions regarding choreography, music etc. directly to the “stream” if you wish and a teacher will respond at their earliest convenience.
How To Access Google Classroom:
All Students MUST Join The Google Classroom by Monday, July 4th.
